HISTORY
The game was invented in England in the end of 19th century and early days of the 20th century.
The game name originally called Ping-Pong. The name Ping-Pong was widely used but many
equipment manufacturers also calling this game as Table Tennis. After 1920, making the
various associations change their names finally to approved as “Table Tennis”.
Table tennis became an Olympic sport in 1988, with singles and doubles competition for men and women.
DETAILS
Table tennis is an indoor sport played on rectangular table which has equal portions
separated by a net placed at it’s width in the middle. In this game two or four
players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using small rackets. The
format of the game is Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles or Team Game.
Table tennis is governed by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF),
founded in 1926. Table tennis has been an Olympic sport since 1988.

BASIC RULES

A match consists of the best of any odd numbers of games, most commonly best of 3 games with 11 or 21 points

Each game being won by a player who first reaches 11 or 21 points

A point is scored when either player fails to make a good return means do the unforced error

Service changes hands after every 2 or 5 points until 10-all or 20-all reached (as per the scoring format of particular event),
when it changes after every subsequent points
